I beg to differ on it "doesn't matter the size." RV's accelerate slower, they take more to stop, if a 5'th wheel they cut corners tighter, if a TT they catch the wind more and wag the tail, small cars love to zoom around RV's like it was a game, etc... You have none of those things in a small vehicle.
I've seen older guys getting turned around in the park pot luck buffet line, only to then head off the next work day in a DP going through Houston. Not to say this guy was one of those, but at 72 how fast do you think his brain comprehends things that are out of his normal routine. He then has to compensate a 18K plus rig to fit the situation given 72 year old reflexes'.
Some of the old snowbirds only drive their rig twice a year, once down, then once back. So out of 365 days they're behind the wheel for their rig about 10.
Once again I don't know if he was one of them, but given a valid driver license and a credit card he sure could have been because that's all you need to run with the big boys. Maybe there should be a test like for commercial drivers that also needs to be renewed because some just don't know when to hang up the keys. That might explain the "not my fault" logic.
