Bought ours with 22,000 miles on it and it has always overheated on long pulls. Also the fan clutch I put in was the Hayden severe duty.
scroller95969,
Does your actually overheat and boil the water? Mine gives no indication of overheating, just runs hot on the gauge. How hot does your actually get on the gauge?
No mine does not boil the water. The time I pushed it the temp was one mark below the top line. I didn't have the ultra gauge then so I don't know the exact heat that it was. It has run up to 235° quite a few times but normally stays below 230° and then I can hear the fan come on and it will stay between 210-225° if I baby it.
What engine do you have? The Hayden rep told me the severe duty fan runs at 75% of shaft speed from 180 to 200 degrees and 90% of shaft speed above 200 degrees. It sounds like yours isn't engaging until around 230 degrees of coolant temp. You may want to pull your rad and have it checked for blockage and while its out, flush the a/c condenser fins of bugs and debris real good.
