Bought ours with 22,000 miles on it and it has always overheated on long pulls. Also the fan clutch I put in was the Hayden severe duty.
Oh yeah, does your fan clutch kick on and make that loud roaring fan noise when its running hot? It should be. If not, it may be your overheat problem.
Fan clutch kicks in between 225-230° and also briefly when starting the engine.
Your clutch fan sounds normal other than its coming on a bit too late. 230 to 235 is the upper limit of safe operation. Engines really should operate in the 210- 220 range when working real hard. 240 is considered max operating limit and anything at or above 250 can cause damage. My old 1986 7.4L 33' Class A motorhome ran hot all the time until I had the radiator rodded out and installed a severe duty fan clutch. After that it ran 190 degrees max no matter what the outside temp was and no matter the grade of the hills. The fan clutch was roaring almost half of the time when driving, but it ran cool.
