Upgrade from gas to DP

I have searched for this but could not find what I was looking for. I have a 36 foot gas class A and have probably driven 1000 miles with it, the longest stretch at one time was 200 miles. It drives fairly well, but have driven in a bit of a wind storm and have felt the effects of an 18 wheeler as it passed me.
I would like to drive from Florida to California in a MH, but not sure I want to do that in my current coach.
Am I fooling myself in thinking that a DP would be less taxing in long drives?
I have been looking at 10 year old DP coaches in the 39 foot length.

Without even getting onto any mods to your suspension, are you sure your coach doesn't have issues such as bad shocks, worn sway bar bushings or other mechanical problems?

Beyond that you will notice a marked reduction in the wind effect of the 'bow wave' of a passing semi if you just move to the right in your lane a few feet. The air has nowhere to go if you're too close and so it physically shoves you around some. Leaving more room between you give the air somewhere to go.
  • Having gone from a Gasser to a Diesel Pusher - I contend for a retired guy who is in good health and walks 3 miles 5 days a week - it is still taxing on a windy day and we only go 250-300 miles per day -
Main advantages of the DP are storage space, quieter ride as the engine is in the rear and the air bags make for a smoother ride
