Use of generator while going down the road?

Our generator is spoiled due to lack of use. The carburetor needs to be replaced and some minor servicing as well. I know we are supposed to "exercise" the generator every month, but we hate using it because it makes such a loud noise at the campground and it is annoying. But the technician that fixed our generator told us that we could use the generator for the house air conditioner while driving down the road. Would that spoil the air con? Any advice? Thanks.
