While I have an Argosy by Airstream myself I agree that there are lots of other great brands out there AND that you will be doing some mechanical work! Always keep a reserve for repairs/service!
If you go slightly older and longer, there are some great buys in Foretravel units on the Oshkosh chassis (ORED models). It is hard to beat Foretravels quality.
