I agree that a 5er would be less expensive to maintain than a motorhome. And you might decide you don't like the lifestyle.
It helps to be mechanically inclined when owning a motorhome. We are not. But with a helpful forum, we have fixed some items ourselves.
Things wear out. Ours is an 08 and after a blissful year (we've had it almost 2 years) we are experiencing a list of equipment failures some little, some not...(exhaust manifold)...Prior to that, we had 2 5ers, a travel trailer and 4 tent trailers.
Sooo, keep some reserve money handy for repairs and have a sense of humor and you will be fine no matter what you choose.
If you find the motorhome of your dreams, get it checked out by a mechanic.
