Users Manual for a 2006 Damon needed

Anyone know where I can get a comprehensive users guide? The PDF on the Thor site is not very good.

  • I had already found the manual on the Thor site. I was hoping for something a little more detailed. Something that talked about charging the batteries, what worked on the inverter, if it had battery overlaod protection for the house batteries, details on the water lines and valves and so on.

When I bought my first MH I had never owned one before. It had no manual and the PO gave no instructions on anything. I did not know what each switch did, what each valve did and so on. So as I figured each thing out I made a manual. This manual will be helpful for the new owner.

There is a section for the airbags (had to find them on my own. I did note ven know it had them when i bought it.

There is a section for winterizing it. A section for the hot water heater along with the added electrical heater for the water.

A section for the tank heaters. At some point someone added a on/off switch for all house power so my manual details that.

Basically every switch, valve, appliance, awning, brake system and so on has a detailed section on how they work. Almost anyone could take my old motorhome and use it.

My guess is that I will have to create on for my new unit.
  • Dennis: Nice clicky. That takes the OP exactly where he wanted to be, Thanks
  • I've looked at the PDF, the PDF looks good to me, it has the complete owner's manual for the Damon gas motorhome models. Nothing missing compared to the printed manual one of my fellow RV club members got with his Daybreak.

If you mean the manual is not very good, it is what it is, and typical. It happens to be for all models, some other manufacturers might do this by model line and have a little more model specific information. Actually, I find this one better than most, because it has relatively complete schematic diagrams. Some manufacturers allow only dealers and repair shops have access to this information.

When you get the motorhome, you should get a set of the owners manuals for each of the components in the house. These might be model specific, or for a model family. Some manufacturers also include the installation manuals, if those were in the documentation package coming with each piece.

Thus, for example, to learn how to operate the awning, you would use the awning manual, rather than looking for a chapter in the motorhome manual. This makes a certain amount of sense, because across Daybreak, Challenger and Intruder, several different awning models might have been used, from more than one supplier. Similarly there are two sources each for water heaters, refrigerators, generators and furnaces. In 2006, at least three suppliers for rooftop air conditioning and cooking appliances, even more for microwave ovens and TV sets.
  • Type the year and model and "manual" in to Google and the entire manual is available online as a PDF document.

I just was looking for some info on mine today and stumbled across the online version of the manual.
  • my brother in law has one...I think the Fiberglass roof is the best thing about the unit
his unit is on the Ford

I am going to reseal all the openings..vents, antennas etc.. the roof itself looks good after these many years

the jack system is a little iffy...and was hard to get a qualified person to fix it shortly after he bought it..but other than that...

oh yes the converter is in the left rear compartment...with no battery tender....so...charge your house batteries for a day or two..then disconnect shore power..otherwise it will cook your house batteries.
chassis battery will not charge via shore power...get yourself a knife switch for chassis battery and when r.v. is not in use disconnect otherwise your chassis battery will be dead in a few weeks....you will need to put a battery charger directly on chassis battery if it does go dead.
running ford engine will charge chassis and house battery no problem...
    hope you enjoy...
manuals are so generic ..you will be disappointed...Thor (I don't think) owned Damon in 2006,
there is so much buying and selling it is hard to keep up

Son... I will tell you the book in the bag is not much better

RVs can be broken down into sub assemblies

    Engine and chassis..NOT Thor's product,,Get manuals from Engine/Chassis/Transmission/Axel/Brake makers

TV,Radio,WaterPump,WaterHeater, (Note my space bar is screwy) Fridge, Air Conditoners, Doors,MIrrors,Windows

All the devices are made by 3rd party suppliers.. NOT Thor,, download manuals from their makers.

NOTE: Some Dometic Microwaves are really LGs... Look at ID plate.. Models are the same).

Walls, Floors,, Roof, Ceiling... Do you really need manuals for these?
  • There is not much use for an owners manual. All appliance and chassis information can be found online when you know specific brands and model numers of items on, or in the coach. Ie, Dometic, suburban, kingdome, magic chef, thetford, etc.

Just wondering why you need a manual if you haven't bought the coach yet..:h:h:h

I am in the process of buying it. I have not taken delivery of it yet. I will be taking delivery of it within a few weeks.
