Valid/PowerGear not working

Getting ready to head out tomorrow and the system seems inop.

After trips I park the rig, put on the tire covers and dump the air so the tire covers don't blow off until next trip. The day before a trip I re-leved the rig so I can get the tire covers off. Today I started the rig and put the system in travel mode while the air built up. I got out, pulled the tire covers and did tire pressure checks. When I went in to shut it down and lower the coach (I do this as a way to prevent theft), the system was off and would not power up. I turned the engine off and restarted. The power indicator on the control board lit up for a few seconds then turned off. I pressed the power button but it did not re-power up. After a few attempts I removed the control panel and looked at the circuit board for any corrosion (have read about this being an issue) but found none. I reinstalled the control panel and still no luck. I can get the power light to come on, a tone and after a few seconds it turns off. I tried holding both the all up and all down buttons while the power light was on but it won't go into the test mode.

Any thoughts
  • Answer from Valid, Quick check for voltage at the red and black wires on the 8 pin connector shows power is going to the control pad, been advised the pad is bad.

$450 from Valid but he also said it is available from Rev

I did read a post somewhere yesterday about the pad being repairable.
  • Call Monaco Support and maybe someone can look at the Power Gear Manual for your coach....or call power gear themselves...have VIN of coach ready for both supports lines..I'd recycle the Park Brake to see if that might jump it to life.
  • Thanks, I tried holding the power button down for over 5 minutes with no results. I also disconnected the panel which is the other method of reset.
  • Did you try to reset the board? I believe you hold the power button until you hear an alternating tone and then it will turn itself off.
