Maybe because he wants to start it once a month to exercise is like you're supposed to and doesn't want to pull the motorhome out of the garage every time.
In my case I can run the MH gen in the garage while back feeding the garage and house electrically during power outages caused by hurricanes. Haven't had to do this since 2005, but I'm prepared.
