I too expressed my thanks to several Veterans I saw this past week.
During this year I've done a lot of genealogy research -- and so I poignantly remembered a newly discovered relative who died in World War I.
Please keep in mind that regardless of how we might interpret others' behavior, Canada has NOTHING to apologize for when it comes to its military history. Nothing at all.
We owe a huge debt to our current Veterans, and all those who never returned:
