WOW! You all did an awesome job!
Could you please explain two things?
1) what is the name again for the counter top stuff you used....I love them!
2) After sand blasting the hardware, you used what to make them "brushed nickle"...I've been looking for products and haven't found anything!
The counter top stuff is called rustoleum countertop transformations -it and information about recoating the hardware is here

Thanks to everyone for the kind words- it's been a challenge (but a fun one)
We do have 3 new ABC extinguishers on board - one in the bedroom, one by the driver's seat, and a large (7lb) extinguisher by the front door.
As to the CO detectors- I replaced the ones that were in place with these, asked a fire inspector, and followed the directions... all told me to put it near the ceiling as the CO mixes with the air and this is how these detectors are engineered. There are detectors that plug in lower (that plug in the outlet) but the directions for this model specified up at ceiling height. The air is also more "open" up by the ceiling as the spaces lower down are quite cluttered with the slide/seats etc. I'm happy to hear any opposing views though and do honestly appreciate the concern.
Thanks again for the kind words about the refurb- next up, time to work on the outside a bit (though not much... a clean, zep, and some small work such as touch up paint, cleaning out the AC units, new windshield wipers etc)

Great Job. It looks like a comfortable home for you now.
You can check on this, but I think the carbon monoxide detectors are best mounted at waist height or below. I have heard it moves from the floor up, so the lower the detector, the sooner it is detected. We have 2 and one is right at the floor, and the other is waist high.
Great job, but I totally agree about the CO detectors - they need to be lower please! - debandiExplorerLooks real good!
- AllegroDNomadAbsolutely pro work and a great job. Looks like you have a great rig for that awesome family to spend that year in. Enjoy.
- hitchupExplorerGood space management. Identify your needs and make it your own.
Good Luck with your year long trip. We're enjoying our first decade on the Road immensely. - msmith1199Explorer IILooks very nice. The issue I would have had is it looked real nice before the renovations too! I don't mind tearing out junk cabinets, but you took out some really nice cabinets. Also as a safety issue, you should either move your fire extinguisher to near the exit door, or add a second one by the exit door. If there is a fire your first movement should always be toward the exit and if you chose to fight the fire, you want to do so from the exit or with the exit to your back so you don't get trapped by the fire. And now that I just said that to you, it made me realize that it's probably a real good idea to have a fire extinguisher in the bedroom too. That way if there's a fire at night you have something to fight it with while getting the family out the windows.
