Just keep an eye out for what is happening in the areas you plan on visiting.
Last year, in September, there were fires around the Jackson area and you could not even see the Grand Tetons. Instead of staying in Jackson Hole, we left the area that was blanketed in smoke and headed towards an area with clear skies.
Obviously that is a single event but there has been a drought in the West and fires are not too unusual. From years of travel we know that STUFF can happen at any time of year so just always have a back-up plan in case Mother Nature decides to throw you a curve ball.
