. I use the atlas to find the Walmart I want to stay at then call that store and ask if they allow overnight parking and they tell you where to park. I like Cracker Barrel but wherever I stop there are cars parked in the RV spots. Cabellas is my first choice because they are usually much quieter and some have RV spots with dump and fill stations. Some Bass Pro shops allow overnight parking but it takes more planing for them. Walmarts are all over and very easy to find especially the ones listed in the atlas because they are within a few miles of the hwy.Lakegirl wrote:
We need a stop near Florida/Georgia border off I95. We will be in a 35 ft Motorhome towing a jeep. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. We have never had a layover at either, so not sure what to do. Thanks!
Never tried a Cracker Barrel, as they seem somewhat limited.
Do like Walmart however and take advantage of them, when the weather is cool enough. Also pick the ones, next to the interstate, as a general rule. Can't beat their camp store and like no other. Fuel prices when a station is available are usually lower, too.
Still have an Atlas with the listings on the back and it seems that WM has quit selling those. However, downloading RV Parky on your phone will do it for you and more. - jk31668Explorerjust into fla is a nice rest stop with rv pullthru spaces. they have armes security too.
- jk31668Explorera few miles into fla is a great rest stop with tons of room/pull thru sites. you can park overnite. they have armed security as well.

I've seen a few RV's in the Walmart parking lot in Kingsland/St Mary's, GA (I-95 Exit 3) from time to time. I don't know if they stayed overnight though.
I enjoy staying at Cracker Barrels because they are quiet and a nice place to get supper and breakfast before leaving.
The trick to them is to make sure they are RV/bus assessable. You can find that off of their website. I then use the phone number and call to make sure there is no problems.
Last but not least I use Google earth to see what the parking lot is like. 99% of the time the RV parking is in back. I use Google earth to make sure I can get around the building easy and get out easy. If it turns out not good once I show up then I go over to Walmart and live with the noise.
Here is a Google earth of Cracker Barrel in Kingsland.

I've thought about Cracker Barrels, but they all seem sort of hard to get into. The stalls seems too small. Therefore, I like the bigger parking lots.
Good Point on the size of the lots. However all locations are different.
I have been to WM with height bars in place to keep RV's out.
I have been To WM's that are in questionable/seedy locations that are not desirable for overnighting.
Cracker Barrel lots are much smaller but if you are coming in late a leaving early, before the crowds arrive you are generally OK.

I agree. I've had to park across some "car" places in some CB's (Tulsa) because I wouldn't have been able to get out. I walked around back and looked. I do pull a CRV on a Caddy. - chiefneonExplorerHowdy!
We've never been able to stay at Cracker Barrel for reasons already mentioned. We have stayed at the Cabela's mentioned overnight after asking the mamager onsite.

Chiefneon - Bird_FreakExplorer IIExit 29 has a FJ with rv parking in the front of the store. I would choose Walmart over Cracker Barrel for parking anytime. CB parking areas are never big enough.
- Jabrad_s_PapaExplorerI know you didn't ask about campgrounds. But we stayed at Fort Clinch. Just south of the border by Fernindina. It was kinda cool. Steps from the beach. It's a State campground.
