Want to cancel RV sale as wife lost job - how can we?

I hope I am wrong, but I wonder if what you signed, was equvelant,to putting earnst money down on a house. You signed it, the dealer signed. So the deal would be agreed to. You may have had, just as you would with a house, chances to get out of it. Like if failed inspection etc. But By cancelling the check, I hope your are not now in direct breach of contract

Wow didn't think I would get this many answers but thanks.
Just a quick update.
I spoke with the manager again this morning, he called me asking when we could come in and re-work the deal so we could afford it if my wife got laid off. I told him I would get back to him.

I was able to call our bank and put a stop payment on the deposit check before they cashed it. Not sure if they have even tried yet but now we are safe.

After reading all these comments:
We will not go in on Saturday to make this deal unless attorney says we have to.
I will not give the dealer any money to help them get rid of this rig.

We will not do anything more until we consult with an attorney.

I also note the document we signed does not have any dates on it so I think we could say we would close in January of next year:)

Regarding this contract since so many people want to see it, if you tell me how to post a document on this site I will post it with names redacted so you can all see what it is I have been talking about.

If needed we will contact the AG about this dealer and it is the one in Bend, OR that was mentioned by the person suggesting we contact the AG.
I tried to be nice about this as we were the ones who backed out but I am tired of the way they are reacting so from this point on we only do what an attorney says we have to do.

If you want to do it on the cheap....go to your local friendly car dealer and asks him what you signed.

Immediately inform the dealer. If they are reputable they will just tear up the quote and re-sell the unit.

I have said in the past (He with the bigger gun usally wins) Go with a attorney.

I would not think that a good idea. What would happen if the transaction was considered a legal and binding sale. Then the purchaser has no financing approved but still is legally bound to come up with money.

I just hope that things work out in this case so that all parties are happy. My thoughts are with the couple involved. I would like to see this whole mess cleared up without adding any more stress and financial loss.

An outcome with all parties happy sure would be great but doesn't sound very likely. If the dealer did in-fact incur costs as the OP said then the terms of the agreement become more important.

The comments against the dealer are a little premature at this point as nothing has been resolved. The advise to get an attorney is OK but is also premature as well.

The best outcomes in cases like this are usually achieved by both parties discussing the issues and facts and jointly arriving at a mutual agreement. Once one of the parties brings an attorney the outcome is immediately more complicated, as usually more costly.
