Cancellation

I purchased my camper in July 2014 and the extended warranty plan. My trailer was recently totaled due to weather damage. My insurance paid off the value, but I had a few thousand extra that wasn't covered. I contacted the dealership to find out how to file a GAP claim. I ended up going through a different Camping World for that information. I was informed my location (Jacksonville, FL) where I bought it would have to process the paperwork. I contacted Bob Weir, the Finance Manager and have several times. Like another post here, my voicemails (although very polite) have gone unanswered. I filed a formal complaint with Camping World HQ and they had him contact me. He said he'd send a form for me to fill out, but never did. I attempted to contact several more times, before filing another complaint. He contacted me again, but never sent me anything. I've resorted to calling and leaving voicemails now at least twice a day. With no help to Camping World, my entire GAP claim has been processed except the cancellation of my extended warranty. My loan company requires the remaining balance to be paid within the next month. I no longer live where I bought the camper (active duty military), but am afraid I may have to resort to flying back to the area just to see Bob face-to-face in order to get this taken care of. This entire process has been going on now for right at 6 months. Completely pitiful and really is making me think about going to a different company for my next trailer.
  • The finance manager is surely due for a promotion under the theory of Screw up and move up or the Peter principal
  • I am confused. The gap insurance is provided by some insurance company, not Camping World its self, right? Why not just file a claim with the insurance company? Secondly, file a complaint with the state insurance commissioner.

GAP is covered by a separate entity, correct, however, there are several items that are required to be filled out and according to the two other Camping Worlds I have gone to, your initial dealership is supposed to file the claim on your behalf. That didn't happen and has not happened. I took care of everything on my end. Now, in order for the claim to be closed out, my original Camping World (Jacksonville, FL) has to cancel my Good Sam Extended Warranty. I contacted Good Sam via email and was informed that the dealership has to do this, I cannot do it nor request it. So, back to the beginning, I cannot get a hold of Bob Weir who is apparently the Finance Manager taking care of this. I've been attempting for several weeks and am to a point where I need someone else's assistance. I filed a complaint with Camping World, but that seems to do nothing. Without him filing the required paperwork, the GAP claim will just sit there unfiled.
  • This is slightly unrelated, but back when Bates RV was still in business they owed me about $800 worth or parts that I ordered when I bought my RV.

Months turned into over a year with NO response from them, then when they finally did respond (after I deliberately became a nuissance) they simply gave me the runaround.

    So...

I drove over 1000 miles to Bates. Unannounced.

I left with everything that was owed to me after a couple hours.

    Sometimes you gotta show up.

Hopefully I don't have to resort to that, but I have considered it. Trying some different avenues as we speak, but I haven't ruled out a mid-week visit when I know he'll be there.

  • Do you have any friends in the area of the dealership that could pay the manager a visit? You could communicate and take part in the conversation via cell phone. You could send an e-mail to the dealership giving your permission to give the friend the completed paperwork. A nice tip to your friend for his help would be nice.
