Warranty Cancellation
Complaint w/ correction.
On March 25, 2019 we purchased a 2015 Winnebago Trend from Camping World RV Sales, Ocala. We were told by the Finance Manager, Cale Rogers, that purchasing an extended warranty would get us a better interest rate from M&T bank so we did purchase the extended warranty policy.
We subsequently discovered that his claim about the “lower” interest rate being tied to the warranty policy was not true and formally cancelled the warranty policy in writing with an account executive named Chris who works for Assurant, Inc. (the warranty policy underwriter) on April 22, 2019. She assured us that they had received out written cancellation on the 22nd of April and forwarded it to Camping World on the 23rd, and that we would receive a check for the entire amount ($4,700.00) from Camping world within a 4 to 6 week timeframe.
Additionally, we sent a letter to Cale at Camping World on April 22nd with the same cancellation request.
5 weeks later we called to Assurant to check on the cancellation and spoke with an account executive named Anthony. He told us our policy was still active and that Cale at Camping world had not returned the cancellation form sent him on the 22nd. Our understanding is that they can begin charging us fees after 60 days. Additionally, we spoke with a supervisor named Jennifer who told us she would follow up on the cancellation, but provided little in the way of information on what that might accomplish. She seemed unconcerned with our issue (let’s face it they weren’t going to be making money, so what the heck do they care) and would not allow us to speak with her supervisor and would not give us her supervisor’s name or contact information.
We have tried at least 5 times to contact Cale Rogers directly and He has ignored our calls. I guess spending $60,000 at Camping World buys us no good will. Once the money is spent at Camping World, you can forget about any attempt at Customer Satisfaction!
This is an obvious and intentional attempt by Cale Rogers and Assurant to stall and delay our refund. They will soon be allowed to collect cancellation charges. We feel that we’ve been lied to by both Assurant and Camping World. This policy was sold to us under the false statement that the bank would give us a low rate if we purchased a warranty.
