Cancelling Extended Warranties in Canada

Also since researching online I've only found people in USA getting refunds when cancelling. There must be Canadians as well but have not read any.

Contract was not explained but I read it and there seems to be a section for a refund but SAL says no.

I think I would have to agree that these warranties are a waste of money.

Trying to sell TT privately and transfer warranty. If traded SAL gets the full "$1600.00" and no trailer to cover. Seems criminal to me.

Oh I hear you on the way things are made now. Bought a used Sub Zero fridge that dates from the mid 80's (no electronic panel thank goodness)at the start of the ' 90's; still going strong. In 1999, purchased an new Amana fridge for a property I own. It's been dead for the last 7 years. GRRRR.

"seems" is not a word in third party Vehicle Service Contracts.

Sorry but I respectfully disagree. You of course need to figure out the useful life of the appliance in question (lots of charts on line for that)and the annual cost of the extended warranty to see if you are are going to be ahead or if the company issuing the warranty is. More often than not the insurer wins.

A few years ago we upgraded to a new TT and at first thought it would be easier to use our 2 year old TT as a trade-in. They simply looked up the Blue Book value and offered us diddly squat. We had spent thousands of $$ on mods and upgrades and didn't add any value to the dealer. Tried to sell it on CL and ended up selling it to my BIL. Got quite a bit more than the dealer offered. BIL still has the TT and loves it.

I would not bundle the old TT with the new purchase. Negotiate the new one separately. Try selling the old one on CL or elsewhere privately first. It's early in the camping season and you need to be patient. There'll be a lot of competition on CL and you will need to price it right tho.

Canada/USA is meaningless, the only thing that matters is the contract you both signed.

Just one of the many reasons many people have determined that these insurance policies (not technically a warranty) are a waste of money.

I wouldn't think it has anything to do with wether it is the USA or Canada but more to do with the contracts if the warranty company. Was it explained to you properly when you purchased it?

Extended warranties work for some folks. Others not. Kinda like life insurance I suppose.

Have you considered selling privately and using the extended warranty as a selling feature.
