All thank you for your comments and I will let you know how this turns out.
Regarding the comments about financing they already have a lender ready to do the loan at the payments and timeframe the dealership stated they would provide. We have not signed anything yet.
Regarding the actual document we signed the front that they have you sign as I described very clearly on top is stamped Quote # 14693. After reading some of your comments I looked at the back more carefully under Additional Terms and Conditions. It starts in small print:
It is further understood and agreed:
The purchase agreement on the reverse side herof is subject to the following terms and conditions all of which have been mutually agreed upon.
So I guess this "may' be some kind of purchase agreement. I guess we should have turned this over and read the back carefully but we were told on many occasions by the sales person that the "contract" would be signed on the day we picked it up. Even the finance gal said we would come up with the final price on pickup day as they wanted us to add clear coat, additonal warrenty, etc. When we had agreed to what our monthly payments would be they can back and said based on our downpayment we were under $50,000.00 on the loan so we could not get 20 year finance. To keep our payment where we said it had to be they said we either had to put less down or buy some extras. This was left open ended because we were at $47,000.00 with our dwn payment and they said we could add things to it to bring it over $50,000.00 or just put less down but we could figure that out on "signing" day.
Ok enough for now. Both my wife and I are sick about this and I really need to wait to hear from an attorney.
Thanks again all of you and I will let you know what happens. We are scheduled for pickup on Sat so I will post something this weekend if not sooner.
