Sounds like they are trying to scare you. I would spend $300 on an attorney to make a phone call. And no way would I offer them $5k. They would not pay off a loan, if there was one, within a day or two. Dealers will wait till the very last legal minute to do that. They want to hold on to their money as long as possible. Stand tough and do not let them get away with their hardball tactics.
