I've been shopping and comparing DP vs. gassers and I'm surprised at how little gap there is in the pricing of used models. Sure, there are DP that run well up into the 6 figures and even 7 figures. But, in a price range for a modest used coach 80K - 100K there are gas and diesels of very similar years and equipment. The gassers are maybe a couple years newer but the spread just isn't as much as I would have expected given all the threads on the subject. From the threads on here every week I'd think a DP was 3X as much as a gas. Having driven a wide range of trucks between gas and diesel and reading the reviews I just couldn't imagine laying out the $$ for a gasser class A but to each his own.
I think the biggest factors to me would come down to if/what you intend to tow and where you intend to drive. For me, I live out west in the mountains and plan on hauling toad. I just can't imagine pulling off mountain driving and towing in a gasser. Of course, a good portion of the country is flat and if I lived there I well may look into a gasser.
Obviously, there's a reason both are available... both sell because both serve needs of different folks.
