washer/dryer use

I am still looking at MH's and one thing I read was if your MH is equipped with a washer dryer is to wash your clothes in a RV park, why is this, does this mean you can't or shouldn't wash your clothes while traveling down the road?

In 12 years of half time use we have never used a laundrymat except for rugs.
  • Interesting. We now have a W-D, we have yet to use it. In the past we were only out for a week at most and on occasion did a load at a CG or laundry. Now we are looking at longer time frames. I would not have ordered this, it was there. It may, MAY, allow us to travel with fewer clothes IF it works as advertised. r it may be a closet disguised as a W-D. Time will tell. As for running it as I head down the road, I seriously doubt it, ours is also blocked in by the slide, so we'd have to start it running a half hour before leaving at least. then we wouldn't be able to empty the dryer and move the clothes from teh washer to the drier until we arrived at our next stop. Add in the potential issues of the spinning drum being bounced around while traveling and the potential for leaks and I will not be attempting that!
  • I have had my DP over 15 years and used the washer/dryer once. Takes to long, does a lousy job, and used to much water........I personally think it a space wasting add on.
  • I wouldn't just in case something came loose. Can you imagine pulling in to a spot opening the door and water comes flowing out because a hose broke.
  • I would ask the washer/dryer manufacturer if bumping down the road would do any damage to the spinning tub. Our washer/dryer runs from park power or generator so we would have to run the generator while driving if we were using the W/D. In our case, we can't get to the W/D when our bedroom slide is in. Good question though.
  • Washers use water, dryers use electricity. Unless you have a good water supply and a generator running washing clothes while going down the road is really not practical. Can it be done? Yea. Turn on your water pump, hot water heater, and generator. Fill your water tank, and be sure your gray tank is empty, your set to go.
