Washing a Class A RV

So, my 2008 Winnebago Destination RV was finally delivered Saturday. I KNOW!

To get here, it traversed the Eastern Seaboard, from Alabama to Maine, in basically a three day rainstorm. Thus accumulating a light coating of dusty road debris. At first, I tried rinsing it off with a gentle rain shower setting on the garden hose nozzle.

Well, that didn't really work. So short of a true & full handwashing, are there any modern era products that I can attach through a garden hose that will wash/rinse the coach?

What is your best way that you use to wash your motorhome?
  • It's like washing an elephant ... Monday the trunk, Tuesday right front leg and side, Wednesday right rear leg and back, Thursday left rear leg and side, Friday left front leg a large bag of peanuts and a case of beer for the weekend!
  • Those stuck on bugs just wet a drier sheet and they come right off.
  • Well since I just finished about an hour ago your answer is NO!----Soft brush with a long handle, good soap, (I use Dawn dish soap), and a magic eraser to get the well attached bugs. A good job takes awhile.

X2, also helps to have two 14 year olds around to help. This weekend they get to wax our fiver before we leave for two weeks on Tuesday.
  • I don't believe there is any way to really clean a coach (or car for that matter) without touching it with something. Even pressure washers don't get all the stuff off.

I wash my coach with a 'Swobbit' which is a soft, fake lambs wool pad on the end of an extendable pole. It gets the job done without scratching the clear coat finish. I wash with Turtle Wax Zip Wash.

When the coach is not really grimey but mostly dusty, I use a waterless product called Wash Wax All. It really works well. You spray a light mist on the coach and wipe it with a special micro fiber mop that has a wet and dry side. Or, you can use micro fiber cloths. It really does get the dirt off and leaves a nice shine. It was developed for cleaning aircraft.

There are other waterless products that work such as No Wet and Dri Wash.
