Personally I'm opposed. I live in WA but I rarely ever camp in the State. I've seen the State close campgrounds that I could/would have used to keep ones open on the other side of the State (supposedly) and I've seen other groups step in to run them and usually run them better.
Inslee is already looking at a carbon tax and other taxes in his grand scheme of things. I pay one of the highest gas taxes in the State but have some of the worst roads in the country. Now he wants to target RV owners; even though when I camp I don't just see RVs using the campgrounds.
Before I can be supportive of any tax scheme like this our State needs to get our house in order. Deal with the proper funding of schools then get serious about the waste and abuse within the other departments. We've got a multimillion dollar tunnel project that is eating up money every day.
Washington could learn a lot from Oregon about proper park funding. Instead the Legislature and the Governor ignores the will of the people time and time again. Hello $30 car tabs anyone?
It really doesn't matter if you ask me, the legislature had to deal with the The McCleary v State ruling, until that is addressed I don't think anything else will be brought up for serious consideration.
