Wastewater leak

I hope this is unique as this stuff only happens to me.... 2008 crossCountry when moving I get wastewater (black I think) leaking all in the compartment for water/sewer hookup. Like is sloshing out of tank. Anyone had this or know pipe routing or pipe tank connection??
  • Typical RV black/gray waste water systems rely on gate valves which have rubber gaskets that can wear down or slide out of place - when that happens they can "drip". Replacing the waste valve's is usually pretty easy (lots of threads on that subject) and there not expensive. Don't think I have ever heard of drip issues that only happen when your "moving".
  • As the pipes flex while underway, a failing seal can leak. Eventually it will leak all the time. Replace the gate valve as soon as it's convenient. Gate valves are cheap, around $10 for the small grey water valve and about $15 for the black...four screws hold them in place and they slide out after removing them....installation is the reverse, but make sure the seal is seated when reinstalling....Dennis
  • Its not the gate valve that leaking. It is coming from somewhere well above gate valves. Like the pipe to the gate valves is broken. Is there a rubber gasket where the pipe goes into the tank??
  • some yes some no, most have a flange type with gaskets , then threaded or glued in, only way to tell is drop it, but it could be a kracked fitting , tough one.
  • Thanks midnightsadie I think you are right, but I have no idea how they are going to get to it to fix.
  • A picture is worth a thousand words - if it's not a gate valve issue and your new then you may have to take it to a repair shop and get their opinion - they often charge a minimum of $70+.
