Water damage on carpet

Slow water damage....took years, I think....until last fall I put my hand on the wall (from the front door to the windshield, passenger side) and got the "squish-squish" feeling. Not good. had the wall replaced...great job but very expensive.

The carpet...from the passenger side wall to the dog house is stained. Using cleaners from Lowes...nothing works. Anyone have any ideas...maybe even carpet dyeing...or a commercial carpet cleaning company? Do they have cleaning equipment for such small spaces? (They are geared towards house (large open spaces) carpets.

Auto upholstery/carpet shops (2 that I've visited) really give the attitude they want nothing to do with this.
  • Glac: Since the wall was replaced, we've been thru some nasty rainstorms...and believe me, I check things out the only way I can: touch the new wall as often as I can. So far, so good. The leak, by the way came from the cap/body join area on the passenger side. (Drivers side OK).

Have you fixed the source of the leak? I had this same problem minus the carpet staining I remove the window twice to reseal which was leaking. Then found that during heavy rains the water would over flow the channel running down the wall in to a pocket area then to the floor. After trying to clear the channel weep slots each time I finally noticed the rubber seals were hardened and shrunk allowing rain water to overflow the channels.
  • I just went thru this with my DP. One wall was damaged from a leak by a window and front cap seam. I have repaired these areas and had to remove two pieces of carpet from front and side wall and a piece of the floor carpet. I removed the rotted wood and replaced one section, repadded and replaced with a new carpet piece. Can't even see where I repaired or replaced the area. $20 for a 12 x 7 carpet remnant and a few hours of my time.
  • Folex, spray it on and BLOT..do not rub.It may take a time or two but it got out my stain.

You can get it at most big box home improvement stores or Amazon check out the reviews and pictures.
  • Sometimes a stain simply cannot be removed. If the "thing" that caused he stain, in your case ... water ... but that water ran through a wall picking up color, chemicals, and who knows what else, then carried that to the carpet, the carpet stain is now redyed with a new color. We call it a stain, but it's literally been redyed and may never go back to it's original color.

If you've tried the usual methods, cleaners, etc. and a good carpet shampooer with a hand held wand, then there's probably nothing else to do except replace it, or just live with it. The color has chemically changed, It may never go back.
