Water heater 110v light not on

We have a 2007 Winnebago Journey with an Atwood gas/electric water heater. We have been living in our bus for 5 months with no problems with the water heater. We stopped for the night on our way north and went to turn the 110v switch on for the water heater and the switch did not light up. It usually turns red when we flip the switch on but it did not light up.
Thoughts?

We cannot tell yet since our hot water heats up while we are driving from our Diesel engine. We used some hot water for 2 showers and dinner dishes so we will see in the morning. We have the switch on.

  • The light in our switch has been out about 6 months but the heater works fine. As long as I remember up is on we'll be fine.

It's working the way it should. The red light only should come on when there is a problem with the heater.

We must have different heater setups. The switch is red when 120vt is on and switch is up. Turn heater off light goes out. Now gas switch light is red when turned on but little amber light is on when pilot is not lit. DW will let me know when water is not hot and i will then remember I forgot to turn it on. Gas or electric depending on location.:)

Could be something as simple as a blown out bulb on the switch itself. Mine went out and I had to replace the entire switch to fix it.
If you have an EMS with an amps used readout, you can see if the amperage draw increases when you throw the switch. If it does not increase, then you need to start checking circuit breakers, etc. If it increases, then it is just a blown bulb in the switch.

We only have an amps used readout for 30 amps. When we are plugged into 50 amps, there is no readout.

Our red light is on when we flip the 110v switch to on. That indicates that the water heater is running on 110v.
