Water heater tank.

Does anyone have a hot water tank that is under their kitchen sink in a slide out? The bigger question is has anyone successfully taken one out?

I have a water leak down in there and other issues. I think the whole area needs to be cleaned and sanitized. The odor is awful. The coach sat unoccupied for 5 months.
  • The water heater compartment is at rear of slideout....the outside door allows access to burner area. The frame of that compartment has to be removed and then the whole water heater slides out.
(The other smaller compartment is for the furnace-----it has to be unscrewed to access furnace components. Same for the other one above rear tire)

  • King mattress..mildew problem

    Ripping carpet up

Now water heater......leak and area stinks

Whew..sounds like you have some issues and lots of work

The water heater is removed from outside.
Inside you have to disconnect the hot out and cold in lines at fittings on tank
Have to disconnect wiring........may be a junction box or two on sides of tank, may have electric element wiring on back....just depends on make/model
Identify AC breaker and DC fuse for WH and turn off/remove

    Propane has to be disconnected..

Outside frame screws removed then water heater can be pulled out.

    Have fun...work safe!
  • What brand is your camper and water heater? Our neighbors horse trailer with quarters is on the slide I helped him winterize It looks just like any other water heater you remove from the outside more than likely the threads on connections for the hot and cold nipples have loosened up and are dripping. Either way if you have some simple hand tools you should be able to remove it yourself. The gas line is the biggest problem for the most part remove the screws and disconnect and it slides out.
