It's good for 1000 gallons of water and takes 2 pounds of salt to regenerate. The instructions say to let the salt sit for 5 minutes and then slowly flush for 20 minutes. Pretty easy to do and I generally regenerate about once a month. Time well spent! It's simple, easy and does and excellent job. Soft water will also remove existing build up in your lines and tanks over time.
