he was trying to stick you with a defective piece of merchandise. anybody who would carry through with that is a fool. JMHO

It could very well be a deception by the owner and if so, I agree with you. On the other side, we don't have any facts at all.
The damage was hidden with furring strips. That's like patching holes in the walls of an apartment you are leaving with toothpaste which will last until you get your deposit back. So not only did that previous owner know of the damage, he used a very cheap method of trying to hide that damage. Unless he wants to try and blame it on the person who owned the motorhome before him and claim he didn't know about it.
