We backed out of the deal

I should add a disclaimer to the above in that I say this is the crime of fraud, and it is, however, the likelihood of being prosecuted criminally in a case like this would be extremely rare unless a person was doing this as a regular business practice. In all likelihood if you took this case to the DA or Attorney General, they would refer you back to civil court.

And just for the record, I retired from a DA's Office where I was a criminal investigator and among the things I investigated over the years was fraud related cases. So I do know a little bit about it.
