Thank you for your input. The replies have been interesting, but the plot has thickened. It turns out that it had a salvaged title and he wasn't even the owner. He told us all about his travels in "his motorhome" and how it didn't work out. Honestly, I don't know what was going on at this point. I thought it was odd that he had it parked less than a foot from his house but now I realize he had the bad side hidden. I still like to keep my word, but I sure am sleeping better.
Wow! You did the right thing by backing out,so what if he was angry. He was deceitful from the beginning to end and was just probably angry that he didn't get your money. It wasn't even his to sell, so much for all those that your only as good as your word. That works both ways. Too often we see newbies taken advantage from deceitful owners only to be chastised here for not doing there due diligence and inspecting the RV. OP did inspect the RV before the sale was complete and he gets dogged too! The sale is not completed until the money has been exchanged and the bill of sale is signed. Good for you OP.
