You trusted your gut here when you found the damage. If they were dishonest about the repair, then what eles? Like a non salvage title and actual ownership? IMO, the entire agreement breaks down immediately when the dishonesty surfaces. Then all bets are off. Too bad for the current owner that he didn't have his ducks in a row before trying to screw the OP. He would have gotten away with it most likely.
I think some of the posters here would feel differently if it were their parents buying this bad deal. Not everyone knows what to look for right away to find disguised poor repairs. Do you want your parents to keep an RV that they found to be a fraud just to keep their handshake promise to the people trying to fraud them?
