WEATHER ALERT RADIO

Give me a good old earthquake anyday...sure beats tornadoes!

Oregon scientific. Local settings just for your area. Battery backup , solar charger and hand crank. Weather bands, AM/FM and phone charger. Very small!

2x. I am a fulltimer, I have used this app for the past 3 yrs. It is the best app I ever pd for!!! You can choose the weather events for alerts, and at what level for that alert. Great piece of mind for any rv'eR with a smartphone.

So I don't use a radio warning system at all.

My story comes from about 7 or 8 years ago before I had a smart phone. Now if I ever go through tornado alley again I'll use one of the smart phone apps versus relying on a radio. At least with the smart phone you'll be able to have images that should help locate where the problem is in relation to you. That is at least until the tornado hits the cell tower and wipes it out. But if that happens then get out the paper maps. The last thing I want to do is get close to a tornado when I'm in the RV. I don't think Rv's and tornadoes work well together. And us Californian's aren't used to severe weather.

We use the "iMap Weather Radio app on our Android phones. The alerts are user selectable and geo-located using your GPS. When a selected alert sounds, the related NOAA radio broadcast is played. If you're connected to a hands free device, the audio will play through that of course, just as it does for phone calls. I have not determined what happens when an alert sounds during a phone call though. I hope to never find that out!

Question: I will be doing a lot of traveling and would like to know of weather alerts as I am driving down the road.

With that in mind, I just ordered an Android Smartphone but would like input on a good app.

I have GPS with bluetooth so I can answer hands free. Is there an app that I can have info.,via bluetooth, be announced over my Hands free device?

We use the "Where Am I?" app. I gives you the town, zip code, GPS settings, AND the county you are in.

I agree. We use an app on our phones, also.

BUT, if you don't have a cell signal, they don't work! (Just something to keep in mind).
