The OP was asking about the best route to WV from OK. If he stays overnight on the drive over he will probably pick some place about half-way. Maybe in IL or IN.

He has another thread where he asked about campgrounds near Morgantown, his WV destination.

Don't even think about going to Kanawha State Forrest. It is mainly for camping trailers. Only a couple sites are big enough for motor homes and the road there is no better.

Closest campground to Charleston would be the KOA between Huntington and Charleston.

Fuel in WV is high due to taxes. I drove big trucks and ran 64-79 KY is a wide state and pretty to look at, rather sparsely populated. Morgantown is a busy colleege town and the oil-gas industry is booming.

I 64 to I 79 for sure. I 79 has some hills but it is West Virginia after all.

Do not even think about trying to get into Beech Fork in a 40 footer. The park is level but the roads in have a couple of places where you see your tail lights.

Stonewall Resort SP is just off 79, easy access, and flat spots.

I thought he was talking about fuel prices in Kentucky. Fuel in Kentucky can be cheap if you pick your place.

Last I was there, gas around Huntington & Charleston was $.30 more per gallon than around the Greenbrier Valley.

You will be far better off hitting I-64 to Charleston, WV then I-79 to Morgantown....Most of my family still lives there and I spent the first 18 years of my life there.....I don't know about that cheap fuel statement---at least in WV.

I live on I-70. Take the I-64 route all the way across. You will avoid Indy and Columbus with the associated traffic and construction. Fuel is also less expensive along I-64.
You will enjoy a far more scenic and less congested drive. The cheaper fuel is just a bonus. :)

Seems like WV has a paucity of campgrounds. We ended up in a lousy state park that didn't know the meaning of level.

With OP having a 40' Class A he might want to call Kanawha State Forest before he treks to the campground. Per their web site "Roads leading to the forest are a challenge to campers greater than 26 feet in length. It is recommended to contact the forest office prior to arrival if your unit exceeds a length of twenty-six feet or more to discuss road access." Kanawha State Forest Camping
