What CAT engine do I have?

I'm pretty sharp with the gasser stuff, but my father in law is a truck driver, and has asked what CAT my 99' Harney Renegade 275 hp has. I would prefer to not stand there with my deer in the headlights look if I could avoid it. What can I tell him?

Get the S/N prefix of the engine...usually found on a tin VIN tag on the engine side or valve cover. Should read like "5EK" or "6TS" for example. Google the prefix with Cat or Caterpillar in the search. It will pop right up.

I do know it is a CAT. The Detroit would make for a better story though!
