One thing to remember; when you travel; take three different cards. You ask why? One will be enough, right?
Nope. A few years ago on a family trip (16 of us) from OKC to Destin, FL, my first fuel stop was near Shreveport. Used my card to fill, as I'm walking in the station to get a snack, my cell phone rings, the young lady says "Mr. S, did you just use your Capitol One card at (name of station). I said yes, she informed me that my card was compromised at the pump (I don't know how), and that C-one has cancelled the card, but they would overnight another card immediately.
Fortunately I had another card to use for the rest of the trip. Had I only had the one card I would have been toast. (I was paying for all food, hotel and gas for the entire trip).
Now I carry three cards. One is used entirely for gas purchases. The other two are used occasionally at the local big box store. All paid in full each month.
