I have had credit cards cancelled several times due to suspected fraudulent activity but, like others I carry three one of which is dedicated to fuel and related purchases....very good rewards points.
I also firmly believe in carrying a nice wad of cash and one of the credit cards in the safe just in case. That has proven to be a wise decision several times. I also recommend keeping a small amount of cash tucked away in the toad for those times when you forget your billfold.
