after a few years of planning and stalling, I finally replaced the 13 inch tube tv in the rv bedroom with a 23 inch Samsung that Costco has on sale right now for $250 plus tax. It is 1080p and has a really nice picture using the built in HD tuner and over the air signals. Wattage use is 42 watts during normal operation on movie mode. Dynamic picture mode bumps it up to about 56 watts. Standby usage is 1 watt. I just have to finish up the wiring mess, and figure out how to secure it while traveling
I also replaced the 25 inch tube tv up front with a 32 inch Samsung from Costco. Don't know the wattage specs on that yet. I have to figure out how to trim it out and how to secure that while traveling also.
Almost forgot...While at Costco I saw they had these blackout curtain panels for about $32. The were about a foot over 8 feet wide for both panels. They also claim to have energy savings and block out some sound. Basically they are like a fake suede material and it just happens to match the material I recoverd the sides of the window valences in. I went to the local rv place and got an 8 foot section of "T" track, drapery hooks and the little wheel things that slide on the track. It is the same thing that my front windshield drapes use.
I had to cut the track in three pieces to get it to conform to the roof of my rv but I managed to mount it on the ceiling behind the two front seats. I installed the drapery panels, attached a few pieces of velcro on the side, to the wall, attached a few pieces of velcro between the panels where they meet in the middle, and make a velcro hem at the bottom since they were a little long.
So now I have it where I can pull the curtains and help retain some heat, and block out light if I want. I have the Reflectix material cut out for each window so I can really make it dark in there and maintain heat in cold weather.
I mounted the Voltminder voltage gauge, which was recommended to me here, and installed a on/off/on switch next to it on the dash. I have one leg which is the engine battery and the other leg which is the house batteries. This enables me to have one gauge and monitor both batteries with a flip of the switch or turn the gauge off completely.
I did buy two gauges but I wanted the other one in the bedroom.
