I finally got rid of the Clarion DVD player that never worked reliably (kept freezing more and more). Instead, I installed a small and simple Sony DVPSR510H DVD player on top of the TV cabinet. In the opening where the Clarion was sitting I placed the digital-to-analog OTA signal converter. I had to drill a few holes in hidden places to reroute some cables. No more dangling wires and connecting/disconnecting. I still have to secure the units so that they don't move or fall off. I wanted to spend the minimum since we don't use the system very much.
