- Poodle_PowerExplorerBrought it home from it's first outing to the beach. We bought a 24ft 2011 Winnebago View with the Mercedes Diesel engine 2 weeks ago. My husband didn't like to drive our 38ft class a diesel anymore. We are getting older and it made him nervous to drive in city traffic. I really miss all the room we had. It was like taking an apartment with you. But I couldn't drive it.
- dransierExplorerDug it out of the 25.5 inches of snow and ice from November storms. Not going anywhere but want it available to drive occasionally....back hurts now
- BudsterExplorerchanged out the original thermostat with a Honewell 1-Week Programmable Thermostat - RTH221B
tested it, works great!
- rondebExplorerPacked it and got it ready to head South for the winter. Leaving first thing in the AM
- rgrcpaExplorerHadda winterize. Going to 25 degrees tonight. Pulled out the coach battery and charged it. Put it away in my utility room.
- David_RExplorerChanged the oil in the engine and generator, installed new wipers, and cleaned up from a couple of mice. Caught both in traps but they ran all thru it first.
- 28CAMPCARExplorerClimbed into it and started the engine and the generator. powered up the ac to give the generator a load. Let it all run for 25 minutes or so. Checked everything and then closed up my pole barn where it sits.
D - KicknbakExplorerI stood here and stared at it from inside, wondering why we have waited so long to leave for the TX Gulf coast. Everything was covered in frost and a thin layer of ice as we finally got our first hard freeze here right after a day long rain. 26 deg. 14 wind chill when we got up. I was happy they didn't occur at the same time. 13 days and counting.
- TyroneandGladysExplorerTopped off the gas tanks, knocked the dust off the windshield turned on the heater, you know it got all the way down to 43 last night and only getting up to 58 today :) and heading to Tuscon for T day.
FYI you can tell if it is winter here when people start wearing socks with there flip flops. - oslo_in_ncExplorerI had patched a few (3) holes in the roof. It seems that the previous owners. Had used the roof rack for some special tie down, Horses, who knows. The result of misusing those rails caused the front brace on both sides to pull out and over the years you can guess what happened. All the rain seeped into the screw holes and in time rotted the entire frame of the roof. I don't know how extensive the rot is. I don't think it will be too bad. But one never knows. I tried filling the screw holes with wood shavings to give the screws something to hold the bracket down, but no such luck.It looks like the wall and ceiling in the back half of the RV will have to be torn out.
I bought a weather alert radio at Wal*Mart and cut the 110 volt converter off and attached a cigarette lighter plug. I didn't want to mess with another inverter when I didn't have to. It didn't make any sense to take 12 volts DC, convert it to 110 volts AC and then invert it back to 12 volts DC, just to use a radio. Anyway the radio works fine. Since I live in my RV full time and live in the Wal*Mart parking lot, where I work, I felt it necessary to keep track of the elements.
I have so much to do to this RV, I was going to spend about $8,000 dollars changing some things but have cut nearly $3,000 from that figure. I am going to build a new bed, in place of the sofa. At my age nearly 72, I just don't like coming out of the crow's nest front ways. I'm going to build a desk and redo the kitchen area. Anyway that it for now. I hope ya'll have a nice Thanksgiving. Paul
