The best thing to carry is good common sense, an acute awareness of your surroundings, and not putting yourself in bad situations.
That works 99% of the time.
For the other 1%, 12 gauge and 45 ACP levels the playing field.
It seems lately people are much more violent and have no regard for human life. Many savages out there and our liberal justice system only empowers them.
