The DIY repair kit does not come with a compressor and high power suction tool that the windshield repair shop like Safelite has on board.
IMHO when any repair can be done 'where ever' I am at and especially while on the road RV'ing? That's the route I am going AND have it professionally done. Would be interested in how long the homemade repairs last before they start spidering? I had one repaired professionally 10 years ago, still can't see where it was because it was sealed correctly.
Like I said before if you let the chips start spidering it 'compromises' the windshield doing it's job when in a crash. Been there done that and sustained more injuries than I should have because I drove my vehicle with a chip that spidered out across making the windshield fail in a crash.
