Do you have an on-board generator and transfer switch?

"After the switch" just means to add the protector between the switch and the main distribution panel.

Install is very straight forward.

I have a portable cause it wasn't convenient to use the hardwire version.

Protection for the cost of a television. Installed so all I have to do is plug in. The unit has replaceable modular so I don't have to replace the whole unit only the part that took the hit or failed. They also have the better warranty.
