- 2bzy2cExplorer IIIt is about the same here in So California. Enclosed storage runs from 385 to 600 a month.....if you can find it. Warehouse parking is available from $8-12 per foot depending on location. They valet park for you, which would make me really nervous. Hard to blame anyone if there is a scratch or dent that "shows" up the next time you pick up your RV.
- lryrob9301ExplorerWell, be thankful you don't live in the Baltimore/Washington area. Open storage lot if you can find any with no services will run $125 to $175 per month. I tried to find inside storage and the cheapest quote was $433 a month in a run down, leaky roof old warehouse with mice, no security or insurance coverage.
- 2bzy2cExplorer IIWe are located in Beaumont CA. This is a 4.5 acre sight with 107 already built storage condos.
Can't post a link, the Mods will have a fit. Just Google storage condos, beaumont ca - twainharteartisExplorer2bzy2c It sound like you offer a great value to the RV owner is this a place close to the Sonora area that owners can park their RVs or are you talking about building an RV parking shed on the RV owners property?

Here is my take on the storage issue.
1. You have already invested in a rapidly depreciating asset, your RV. Yes, I know, it is the cost of the lifestyle but still, purely from an investment standpoint, RV's are not a good investment.
2. Every post I have seen so far in this thread are all from people who are renting their RV storage. Really? So, in five years you will lose at least 50% of your RV's value, and 100% of the money you spent on storage.
Granted, I should disclose that I built RV Storage condos, so my opinion is just a bit bias. However, the simple fact is buying your storage in most all cases is better than renting. Granted, you have to make a substantial investment up front, that I understand. But your monthly costs are much lower than anything I have seen in this thread. At my project, it is $35 per month association dues, about $800 per year in property taxes, and $6 per month for electricity +-.
Before you jump all over me, this is for enclosed storage, alarmed, secure, automatic doors, 50' deep with 14' tall doorways, Showers, dumps, wash area, laundry, WIFI etc.
I don't mean to make this into a commercial, I simply wanted to point out there are better alternatives than renting.
I have seen/visited your project and it's beautiful but just a little too far from our home. Can you build one in the Palm Springs/Cathedral City/Desert Hot Springs area? (wishful thinking). My rental storage is 10 miles closer to home than your project which saves me time.

So whats 10 miles between RV'ers? :)
Thanks for the compliments. - mlts22Explorer III live in the city, with very strict HOA codes, so my absolute best nearby is probably a 20' "B".
Storage here is expensive, and even worse, RVs are common theft/vandalism targets. Even if a tweaker can't get into a rig, they love opening storage bays with a "master key" (a crowbar/long screwdriver), or just grabbing batteries/propane bottles for use as meth lab apparatus.
If you get a storage spot in an urban area, take the televisions off the walls, put them on towels in a drawer. That way, if your rig is hit, you are out just those, not having to pay money for new walls after the mountings were torn off. I'd also find a junk CRT TV, something heavy and non-functional, but looks OK... stick it in the outside compartments (leave the compartments latched, but unlocked with multiple signs saying so). The TV may disappear, but your rig likely won't be vandalized.
I decided to have storage about 40 miles from where I live. The rig is well-protected. Downside is that it takes a good chunk of vacation time for pickup/dropoff, so I end up paying a monthly visit to check and run items, and that's it until winter comes. - Mr_Mark1Explorer

MM. - J-RoosterExplorerWe priced storing our 36' motorhome in Lake Havasu City, AZ. for the summer months of 2013 and we were quoted $200.00 a month for inside storage.

That is all fine and good but I live in the Mountain's and on my property I can and have parked my 27FT rig on it. But now that I have a 34FT rig it will not make the transition from the step grade to the flat so that means I would have to buy a lot that the motorhome can get into in order to build a RV port to keep it in. If I could afford that I would have a big Diesel pusher and just stay on the road. I would love to be able to have one of your units built but for me that will not work. It sound like you offer a great value to the RV owner is this a place close to the Sonora area that owners can park their RVs or are you talking about building an RV parking shed on the RV owners property? - deandecExplorerI have rented outside secure storage in Folsom, Ca for $75 per month over 11 years.
The Sacramento Valley sun is hard on the exterior paint of our rig. It now could use a fresh clear coat and/or paint job which will cost @$10,000 at minimum.
If I had opted for indoor storage, that paint cost could have been avoided, but I would likely have paid $175 per month more or $23,000 in additional storage costs.
The best solution is to store the rig on your farm in an unused storage shed.....if you have one. :)
