Is the extra 3 or so feet of length the only disadvantage of F450 vs. an E450. I know that I would accept the extra length for 4x4 or even AWD.
The extra foot of frame-rail height is not trivial. It may be less apparent now with many E-series motorhomes having raised floors for more basement storage, but you'd probably notice it more on a shorter coach which usually have low-floors.
BTW - You can still get a 4x4 E450 chassis from QuadVan! They even do used motorhomes. Last week, they were just finishing up a super nice Chinook motorhome.
And as a mentioned in my first post, the transition from cab to coach is more extreme in the F450 coaches. If you travel as a couple, probably not a big deal. Having passengers in the rear, and not being able to see out the windshield, could be a problem for some.
One really big advantage of an F-series coach is the stock 19.5" wheels and tires. Ford should really make those an option on the E450, since the rear tires are often maxed out or overloaded.
