What is the best Tow/Brake set up for a Towed Vehicle?

My own personal experience has been with Brake Buddy (original metal box). I have it set to "come on" under heavy braking. In several emergency braking (stupid drivers) cases the BB really helped to slow the MH/toad down really fast. Have used the BB with a Jeep Cherokee Country and currently a Subaru Outback (5 spd) for 12 years. BB replaced the circuit board early on for not releasing the toad brakes fast enough and the power cord.
