Pit is nice when you need to get under, but a PITA any other time.
You drain oil into a pan on the floor, just slide it out. Or move MH away from pan. In a pit? Lift it out without splashing on you.
i guess that would depend on the type of "pan" used. or...you could slide a piece of plywood across the pit to support the pan. or...you could get one of those drain/pans they use at the quickie oil change places. always wanted a garage with a pit. - JRscoobyExplorer II

Yes is costs a little more but the convenience is worth the extra cost.
- Shot-N-AzExplorerI went 16 wide and wish I had gone 18. 16 will accommodate open slides, but it is difficult to walk around the coach, and nearly impossible with the driver’s side living area slide extended.

...Dennis - bighatnohorseExplorer IIClose enough. . .I'd go 15 feet then.
Even if only one slide was open then one could still go inside the RV. Two slides open would probably be "doable".
I have to bring in fill dirt and hire a foundation company to lay the slab - so no squandering allowed.
Thanks all for checking and advisement. - bukhrnExplorer IIIMine is 20'x40', with the thought of storing the MH and a car, but without the car, I have a lot more room to get around the MH, with slides in or out.
- older_fossilExplorerOur coach is basically 13.5 feet wide with slides out. I'd want a 20 wide building if possible. Also consider height if you need to get on the roof while inside the building.
Art - dodge_guyExplorer IIFigure 8 1/2ft plus the 2 slides. Slides vary depending on manuf and type (living room, bed, closet. Slides can be anywhere from 10” to 3ft. I would say go with the widest to cover yourself. I say 15ft RV width minimum. So shoot for 16’.
- wa8yxmExplorer IIIDo not know what "Typical" is only know mine.
Now since it's funnier if I type it this way
When I drove up to General RV to pick up my rig I towed a 13' SCAMP hard shell trailer to the dealer.. he gave it to one of his workers who had just been kicked out of the house by his ex wife so he had a "Dog house" to live in :).
The funny part.. Fully set up all slides extended this 37'7" RV is 13 feet WIDE.
