Motorhomes are also nice when you get stuck in a 4 hour long traffic jam where everything is at a complete standstill and hundreds of people are walking around on the roadway. You can nuke some food, sit back on the sofa and turn on the TV to see if the local tv station has any news about the traffic jam all the while being able to watch the masses of people out the windshield and being 10 seconds away from the drivers seat when things start moving.
p.s. I get under 10 mpg (call it 9.5 mpg on a good day)on my 28 ft with 8.1 and a 4 speed transmission with 17,000 GVWR
