What you may face when your slide doesn’t work (long)

Sounds like you have a broken pin that holds one of the drive gears to the shaft. Its possible you may have a couple of broken teeth on a gear and now it sheared the pin when trying to engage. Saw both of these problems on my 2000 HR Endeavor recently.
